Industrial Production in the Republic of Uzbekistan (January–February 2025)

Number of Existing and Newly Established Industrial Enterprises in Uzbekistan

As of March 1, 2025, 56.8 thousand industrial enterprises were operating in the country. When broken down by main types of economic activity, the largest share is in the food production sector – 11.6 thousand enterprises (20.5% of the total), followed by other non-metallic mineral product manufacturing – 8.0 thousand (14.1%), apparel manufacturing – 5.7 thousand (10.1%), fabricated metal products (excluding machinery and equipment) – 4.6 thousand (8.0%), and furniture manufacturing – 3.9 thousand (6.9%).

According to preliminary data, in January–February 2025, the total volume of industrial production in the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to 122.2 trillion UZS, with a physical volume index of 106.0% compared to the same period in 2024.

Industrial Output per Capita

An analysis of industrial output per capita for January–February 2025 showed that several regions significantly exceeded the national average of 3,287.2 thousand UZS:

  • Navoi Region – 23,462.6 thousand UZS
  • Tashkent City – 6,836.0 thousand UZS
  • Tashkent Region – 5,812.4 thousand UZS
  • Andijan Region – 3,358.4 thousand UZS

The national growth rate of per capita industrial output was 103.8%, with significantly higher figures in:

  • Navoi Region – 109.2%
  • Khorezm Region – 108.8%
  • Namangan Region – 106.8%

Main Sectors of Industrial Production

In January–February 2025, the sectors that accounted for the largest share of manufacturing output contributed:

  • 99.4 trillion UZS to total production (81.3%)
  • 11.1 trillion UZS (9.1%) to electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply
  • 11.0 trillion UZS (9.0%) to mining and quarrying
  • 0.7 trillion UZS (0.6%) to water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities

Production of Selected Industrial Products by Major Enterprises

From January to February 2025:

  • Gasoline production – 189.4 thousand tons (–21.5% compared to the same period in 2024)
  • Cotton yarn – 104.0 thousand tons (+7.4%)
  • Beer – 19.0 million liters (–10.9%)
  • Wheat and spelt flour – 173.4 thousand tons (+6.1%)

Production by Major Manufacturing Enterprises

  • Food, beverage, and tobacco production accounted for 17.5% of total manufacturing output (physical volume index: 110.1% vs. Jan–Feb 2024).
  • Chemical products, rubber, and plastics accounted for 6.3% (index: 109.9%).

Technological Composition of the Manufacturing Sector

Within the manufacturing sector:

  • High-tech industries – 1.0% (vs. 1.3% in Jan–Feb 2024)
  • Medium-high-tech – 21.0% (vs. 25.3%)
  • Medium-low-tech – 40.2% (vs. 38.1%)
  • Low-tech – 37.8% (vs. 35.2%)

Production of Passenger Cars by Major Enterprises

In January–February 2025:

  • Cobalt – 19,461 units (+21.1% vs. 2024)
  • Chery – 1,392 units (–30.5%)
  • KIA – 4,102 units (–0.2%)
  • Damas – 12,983 units (+10.5%)
  • Special-purpose passenger cars – 3,812 units (+13.5%)
  • Tracker – 5,837 units (–10.8%)
  • Onix – 6,718 units (+25.4%)
  • Haval – 1,117 units (8.3 times increase)
  • BYD – 1,912 units

Contribution of Small Business to Industrial Output

In January–February 2025, small business entities produced 29.9 trillion UZS worth of industrial output, accounting for 24.5% of total production. This is an increase compared to 19.9% in the same period of 2024.
