More than ten Uzbek banks are preparing to introduce Islamic banking services. The announcement was made by Timur Ishmetov, Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the country's international reserves exceeded $77 billion as of March 2026 — more than doubling the figure from two years ago.

In Uzbekistan the aggregate Consumer Price Index (CPI) in February 2026 amounted to 100.6% month-on-month, 101.3% relative to December 2025, and 107.3% year-on-year.

In January 2026, Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover reached $5,830.5 million, with export growth accompanied by even faster import expansion and a wider negative trade balance.

According to data from the National Agency for Perspective Projects, 21 crypto-service providers are currently operating in Uzbekistan, with over 661,000 citizens registered on crypto-platforms.

The January 2026 CPI recorded a moderate monthly increase alongside a noticeable reshaping of the main contributors—from food to insurance services—against the backdrop of Uzbekistan’s transition to an updated, internationally comparable CPI methodology.
