Summary Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the Republic of Uzbekistan for March 2025
In March 2025, the summary Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the month amounted to 100.9%, which is higher than the figures for February 2025 (100.5%) and March 2024 (100.7%). For the period January-March 2025, the summary CPI reached 102.1%, compared to 101.7% for the same period in 2024. During the first quarter of 2025, the annual CPI increased by 0.5 percentage points, and over the past 12 months, its value increased by 2.3 percentage points, amounting to 108.0% against 110.3%. The average monthly growth of the summary CPI for January-March 2025 was 0.7%, which is lower than the growth in March of this year (0.9%).

The short-term CPI (compared to the previous month) was higher than the national average in the Jizzakh, Navoi, and Surkhandarya regions. The increase in prices for the first quarter of 2025 exceeded the national average in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Kashkadarya, Navoi, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, Tashkent regions, and the city of Tashkent. The annual CPI for March 2025 exceeded the national average in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Tashkent regions, and the city of Tashkent.

CPI in the Republic of Uzbekistan by main groups
In March 2025, the largest price increase was observed in the food products group, the CPI for which amounted to 101.5%. The CPI for non-food products amounted to 100.2%, and for services – 100.7%. Compared to March 2024, the short-term CPI for food products in March 2025 was 0.7 percentage points higher. This is largely due to the acceleration of price growth for meat and fats and oils, while in the first quarter of 2024, a decrease in prices was observed in these groups. The short-term CPI for non-food products did not undergo sharp fluctuations throughout the first quarter of 2025 and amounted to 100.2% in March. The increase in prices for services in March of this year slowed down slightly compared to the previous month (0.7% against 0.8%) and remained at the level of March 2024. The CPI for food products for March 2025 compared to December 2024 reached 102.9%. At the same time, the annual CPI in this group decreased from March 2024 to March 2025 by 4.2 percentage points (107.8% against 103.6%). Non-food products became less significantly more expensive during the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year (100.8% against 101.1%). The CPI for services for January-March 2025 amounted to 102.6%. However, a significant increase in the price index for services in May 2024, related to the liberalization of tariffs in the utilities sector, led to the fact that the annual CPI in March 2025 was 17.6 percentage points higher than in March of last year (109.5% against 127.1%).
Impact on the growth of the summary CPI
The largest contribution to the increase in the short-term summary CPI in March 2025 was made by price changes in food products and non-alcoholic beverages, which accounted for over 74% of the total impact. For the CPI by December 2024, the key factor was food inflation, which provided about 58% of the total increase in the summary indicator for January-March 2025.
