The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) allocated €100 million for the construction of a thermal power plant in the Surkhandarya region. This was reported in Gulf Business.
As specified, the project is aimed at meeting the country’s growing demand for energy consumption and replacing outdated and inefficient gas-fired thermal power plants.
In addition, the IDB approved the allocation of $106.7 million as part of state financing of transport projects in Uzbekistan.
It is planned to improve the industrial infrastructure in the country, which will facilitate access to markets for farmers and traders, as well as enhance regional integration and tourism.
