Foreign trade turnover of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 11 months of 2022

According to the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in January-November 2022, the foreign trade turnover (FTT) of Uzbekistan reached 44,947.6 million US dollars, which, compared to the same period in 2021, increased by 6,840.7 million US dollars (an increase of 18.0%).

Of the total volume of the FTT, exports amounted to 17,365.3 million US dollars (an increase of 12.0% compared to January-November 2021), and imports – 27,582.3 million US dollars (an increase of 22.1%).

As a result, the balance of foreign trade turnover amounted to a passive balance in the amount of – 10,217.0 million US dollars.

Among the 20 major partner countries in foreign economic activity, there is an active foreign trade balance with three countries, in particular with such countries as Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. There is a passive balance of foreign trade turnover with 17 countries.

To date, the Republic of Uzbekistan has trade relations with 200 countries of the world. The largest volume of foreign trade turnover was recorded with the Russian Federation (18.6%), China (18.2%), Kazakhstan (9.3%), Turkey (6.5%), the Republic of Korea (4.8%), Kyrgyzstan (2.5%) and Germany (2.1%).

The share of foreign trade turnover of the CIS countries in the period under review, compared to the same period in 2021, increased by 3.2% and their share in foreign trade turnover, according to the results of January-November 2022, amounted to 40.0%.

The volume of foreign trade turnover of other states in January-November 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, respectively, decreased by 3.2% and amounted to 60.0% of the total foreign trade turnover.

The foreign trade turnover of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the CIS countries reached 17,999.5 million US dollars. Of these, the volume of exports amounted to 7,140.5 million US dollars, and the volume of imports – 10,859.0 million US dollars.

 

EXPORT OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN

(for January-November 2022)

In January-November 2022, the total number of exporting entities amounted to 6,893 units, which ensured that the volume of exports without gold reached 13,837.7 million US dollars (an increase of 121.4% compared to the same period in 2021).

In the structure of exports, 79.2% is occupied by goods, which are mainly manufactured goods (23.1%), food products and live animals (8.4%), chemicals and similar products (7.0%).

Due to the growth of exports to other foreign countries, the share of exports to the CIS countries increased, and their share in its total volume amounted to 41.1%.

Compared to 2020-2021, our main partners in the export of goods and services in foreign trade turnover in January-November 2022 were such countries as China, the Russian Federation, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. Their share in total exports reached 56.6%.

The volume of exports of fruits and vegetables in the period under review amounted to 1,599.8 thousand tons and, in value terms, reached 1,031.4 million US dollars (the growth rate, compared to the same period in 2021, amounted to 19.5%, respectively).

In January-November 2022, the share of fruits and vegetables in total exports amounted to 5.9%.

The main export markets for fruits and vegetables are the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, China and Pakistan.

According to the results of January-November 2022, the export of textile products was carried out in the amount of 2,899.5 million US dollars, which accounted for 16.7% of the total export volume and, compared to January-November 2021, it increased by 9.5%.

In the structure of exports of textile products, the main share is occupied by cotton yarn (45.2%), as well as finished knitwear and garments (28.5%). In January-November 2022, 532 types of textile products were exported to 69 countries of the world.

The volume of exports of services in January-November 2022 amounted to 3,619.5 million US dollars, or 20.8% of the total volume of trade exports and increased by 55.2% compared to the same period in 2021. As part of the export of services, the lion’s share is occupied by transport services (44.4%), travel (tourism) (40.6%), telecommunications, computer and information services (6.8%), other business services (4.0%).

At the same time, other services (4.2%) account for the largest share, respectively, in financial services (1.8%), insurance and pension services (1.4%), maintenance and repair services (0.3%) and etc.

 

IMPORT OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN

(for January-November 2022)

During the reporting period, imports amounted to 27,582.3 million US dollars (an increase in growth rates, compared with January-November 2021, amounted to 122.1%). The main share in its structure is occupied by machinery and transport equipment (31.0%), industrial goods (19.0%), as well as chemicals and similar products (13.8%).

An analysis of the dynamics of imports of goods also showed that in January-November 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, the volume of imports of goods increased by 4,205.8 million USD and amounted to 25,260.0 million USD, and imports of services reached 2,322.3 million US dollars.

The share of imports from the CIS countries, compared to the same period in 2021, decreased by 1.2% and their share in foreign trade turnover, in January-November 2022, amounted to 24.2%.

In general, according to the results of January-November 2022, goods and services were imported to the Republic of Uzbekistan from 174 countries. One third of imports come from such large partner countries as the PRC, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Korea, Turkey, Germany and India.

The volume of imports of services in January-November 2022 amounted to USD 2,322.3 million, or 8.4% of its total volume and increased by 50.5% compared to the same period in 2021. As part of the import of services, the main share is occupied by travel (tourism – 56.1%), transport services (15.4%), telecommunications, computer and information services (9.4%), other business services (6.6%).

In addition, other services accounted for 12.4% of total imports of services, including a high share of fees for the use of intellectual property (3.9%), construction services (3.0%), maintenance and repair services (2.2%) and others.

According to the results of January-November 2022, in the structure of imports, the volume of machinery and transport equipment reached 8,558.0 million US dollars and increased by 16.2% compared to the same period in 2021; in general, the share in the total volume of imports amounted to 31.0%.

Imports of machinery and transport equipment increased by $1,190.7 million. Most of the supply of these goods to the country falls on the PRC – 3,252.4 million US dollars (38.0%), the Republic of Korea – 1,436.6 million US dollars (16.8%) and Turkey – 661.9 million USD (7.7%).

According to the results of January-November 2022, in the structure of imports, the volume of industrial goods reached 5,253.8 million US dollars and increased, compared to the same period in 2021, by 26.3%, in general, the share in the total volume of imports amounted to 19.0%.

Basically, imports of industrial goods fall on cast iron and steel (2,272.1 million US dollars), metal products (670.2 million US dollars), textile yarn, fabrics, finished products (497.7 million US dollars), paper or cardboard (426.0 million US dollars), etc.
