On May 6-7, 2025, a delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev, participated in the 58th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) held in Milan, Italy.
A key outcome of the visit was the official announcement of the transfer of the ADB Board of Governors chairmanship to Uzbekistan for the period of 2025-2026. Jamshid Khodjaev was confirmed as the Chairman of the Board of Governors, underscoring the high level of confidence placed in Uzbekistan by leading international financial institutions.
Following the meeting, a unanimous decision was reached to hold the 59th Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors in Samarkand in May 2026.
During the event, a Program of Implementation for 23 new projects for 2025-2026 was signed, totaling $3.6 billion. These projects encompass key areas of socio-economic development, including education, water supply, transportation, as well as financial and technical assistance.
