On May 10-11, 2022, Tashkent hosted the first international conference “Space Technology Conference STC – 2022” in the Central Eurasian region.
The conference dedicated to the theme “Space technologies and their role in socio-economic development” brings together national space agencies and the international space community, in particular, more than 200 participants from 110 companies and organizations in the field of space activities from 20 countries, as well as about 30 ministries and departments of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The event has become an effective platform for discussing the latest trends in the space industry, sharing experience in the application of technologies both in the interests of the state and the private sector.
Within the framework of the Conference, six sessions were held on the most relevant topics in the field of technology.
Within the framework of the Space Technology Conference STC-2022, the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with SpaceX representative Ben McWilliams.
As it was noted at the meeting, SpaceX is currently implementing a number of major projects in many countries of the world. The representative of the company also expressed readiness to implement such projects in Uzbekistan.
At the same time, the Ministry of ICT made a proposal to the representative of the company to open an office in Uzbekistan in order to expand cooperation.
There was also a meeting between the Uzbekkosmos Agency and the US company SpaceX.
The meeting, which was attended by the Director General of the Uzbekcosmos Agency Shukhrat Kadirov and SpaceX representative Ben McWilliams, discussed the issue of bilateral cooperation.
In particular, the parties discussed the issue of attracting the Starlink project to the Uzbek market, which is being deployed by SpaceX to provide high-speed broadband satellite Internet access.
Following the talks, the parties noted their readiness to develop mutually beneficial relations and cooperation.
